Lab 11: OPEN_MUSIC

By Nick Kaufman

we started this venture, which can also be an open sailing lab. Music that is like a village floating on the water... parts that are free to float around and recombine for mutual prosperity and growth....
music is a very important part of any social project:

About Interdependence Records
Interdependence is an open_source label on the border between the non-profit and private sector, where your wildest dreams are possible. Here's to many tubular dayz! VISION & BYLAWS: Interdependence, like Manchester's Factory Records, is an experiment in human nature. It is a label, we will release records, but it is also a creative incubator for anyone who makes music or dreams of it. As such, we want our artists to grow and expand, and eventually get signed and find a lovely home somewhere. This does not mean that we are a so-called "non-profit", a very confining category at least in America. We are half anarchist and half socialist; we want to be free to create, but we also want to educate and bring up those who grow up in the poorer communities of the world and help give their voices wings. We NEED to make money in order to do this, and we intend to be profitable so our members can live comfortable lives, but we solemnly vow not to amass wealth for its own sake. In the end, we are about the music. Right now we are on the Yes Wave, but we are not afraid to ride future waves into the next millennium and the frontiers of the human evolutionary struggle. Interdependence produces OPEN_MUSIC, in the spirit of the pioneering project OPEN_SAILING: www.opensailing.net OPEN_MUSIC means anyone is free to create and share and remix to their hearts content. We respect copyright laws to the extent they make sense, but acknowledge that everything is changing so fast that you cannot take a black and white moral stance. We judge copyright law to be a structure intended to safeguard two things: economic wellbeing, and personal pride/honor/fame. As such, we argue that all human knowledge should be free and shared as we have the technology to duplicate it at virtually no cost using 1's and 0's. However, authorship is a very important part of human nature and it must be respected. In other words; make sure to give props to the giants whose shoulders you stand on. And cite your sources. We will make every effort to release our work in various remix-able formats. All we ask is that you credit us where appropriate so that people can follow the mimetic trails of art and knowledge back through history. In conclusion, life is a party and a bold experiment. Treat yourself and others well and we will all prosper. In Love and Neon Rainbows, Interdependence Records
