Whilst visiting the Lloyd's building the other day, I saw the official ledger for sunken ships, next to the official insurance ledger from 100 years before. On the day we'd visited (31st March) there had been 4 ships lost in 1910; this is equal to the total number lost this month in 2010. Sea safety has come a long way, but we still have much to learn.
